In the app
Profile → Settings → Delete account
Confirm once and it is done. You do not need to email anyone, wait for a reply, or give a reason. The option is in the app itself, not buried behind a support request.
Account deletion
Two ways to do it, both permanent. Closing an account is no harder than opening one was, and we never ask you to explain why.
Two routes
The in-app route is immediate and is the one we recommend. The email route exists because you may not have the app installed any more, may have lost access to the device, or may simply prefer it.

Write from the email address on the account and say you want it deleted. We verify the request using information we already hold rather than asking you for anything new, then confirm when it is done.
What happens
Being straight with you
A privacy notice that claims absolutely everything disappears is usually not telling the truth. Here is exactly what survives a deletion and the reason for each.
The consent given, by whom, the method used, the scope, the version of the notice shown, and a timestamp. Kept solely to evidence that consent was properly obtained in the first place. It contains no part of your record and is never used for anything else.
What you asked for, what we did, and when — including this deletion. Several state laws require us to be able to demonstrate that requests were honoured, and without a record we could not.
There is one other case. Where we are legally required to preserve something, or need it to establish or defend a legal claim, we isolate it, use it for nothing else, and delete it when the requirement ends. If that ever affects a deletion you asked for, we tell you.
Particular situations
You can delete a single entry, your child's whole account, or the entire household — the same 30-day and 90-day clocks apply. Withdrawing a consent is different and does not delete anything: the full-tier features switch off and the record stays.
You can still delete your account yourself. Because a parent is linked to it, we tell them before we act. We do not ask for their permission and we do not let them overrule you.
After 24 months with no activity we email you — and your linked parent if there is one — give you 30 days to respond, and then delete everything. You do not have to remember to close an account you have abandoned.
Before you go
Any student, with or without a parent linked, can export their own record to their own verified email address in a portable format. It is worth doing before you delete, because deletion is permanent and we cannot bring a record back afterwards.
If the reason you are leaving is something we did, we would genuinely rather hear it — help@playbook23.com. It will not delay your deletion by a single day, and we will not use it as a reason to talk you out of it.
